Local 39's philosophy can be summed up in four words, organize, negotiate, service and train. Local 39 has focused on organizing new members into the Union to provide the benefits of a contract with quality representation and to protect the wages of current members from being undercut by non-union employees.
Once in the Union, members get the best contracts possible and vigorous enforcement of them along with protection of their rights under law and statute.
In order to protect these gains and benefits, the Union runs a complete training program.
Service and education are the foundations of Local 39. These qualities have brought Local 39 from 2,500 members in 1969 to over 19,000 in 2002. |
